The Vagina Monologues

The Vagina MonologuesThe Vagina Monologues

I had the honor and pleasure of seeing my first live production of Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues this afternoon in NYC. For those who are not familiar, it is a series of monologues which feature “the Vagina” and are read by a variety of women who share the stories of 200+ women who Eve Ensler had interviewed about their “vaginas”. The themes include sex, love, orgasm, masturbation, birth, menstruation, rape, incest, violence and the various names we call our “vagina”. Watching the women perform these monologues made me feel so empowered and proud to be a woman. It also reminded me of my own Vagina journey and I felt complete compassion for my own rape that occurred when I was only 15 years old. It is so important for women to find community and support each other in the world, I encourage you to get involved with V-Day, a charity which benefits female victims of violence and sexual abuse. I also want to suggest that by honoring, loving, exploring and celebrating your vagina, your vulva, your clitoris and your amazing feminine body- you can love yourself on a much deeper level.
